Plymouth Sailing and British Firework Championships
In addition to a fantastic sailing experience on a classic heritage vessel sailing, we will watch some of the best explosive sky-shows from the annual British Fireworks Championships where we’ll see at least three of the competing firework display companies who compete over 2 nights.
Freshly prepared meals, snacks plus hot & cold drinks are all included. Our skipper and crew will be on hand to ensure that you have a really memorable time.
What to Expect on your British Firework Championships Sailing Holiday Spectacular:
We will welcome you aboard with a light lunch before the usual safety briefings and boat tour to allow you to settle in and find your way around. Once everyone is ready we will set sail – and the adventure begins!
No Sailing experience is required, nor are you obliged to participate in hauling sails or turning your hand to helming with Pilgrim’s tiller but you are most welcome to do so under supervision of the skipper and crew.
This spectacular sailing holiday starts in Brixham, Devon which is Pilgrim’s home port having been originally built here in 1895. This picturesque coastal town has a rich and varied maritime history and continues to be a thriving fishing port landing and selling over £24 million of fish and shell fish every year!
As you board, you will have an opportunity to see from the water wooden heritage vessels, modern fishing trawlers, sailing yachts and motor boats out and about enjoying the water.
Leaving Brixham we will sail towards Plymouth, we will anchor or moor up each night as we make our way along the coast, to enjoy dinners and sunsets from the deck or perhaps go ashore to stretch our legs and find a nice pub! After a good nights sleep in your comfortable bunk, we set sail again after breakfast, to continue our way along the coast towards Plymouth.
In Plymouth we will have dinner (perhaps on deck if it’s warm enough) and either anchor or sail gently around “Plymouth Sound” to see the displays from Mountbatten Breakwater on the first night of the competition. We set sail towards Brixham the following day.
The British Firework Championships were started in 1997. After considering a number of venues around the UK, Plymouth became the favoured location as it provides a natural amphitheatre where large scale pyrotechnics could be used safely whilst being watched from a variety of points around the harbour and Sound, delighting visitors from around the world.
